The third cycle of knowledge-sharing workshops has concluded, bringing together experts from the Global Health Center (CSG) and partners—including the Tuscany South-East Local Health Authority (AUSL), the ARCO PIN Foundation of the University of Florence, and the Ministries of Social Affairs, Health, and Education.
Throughout various sessions of brainstorming and interactive, participatory work, ministerial representatives discussed strategies for a more inclusive and holistic model regarding early childhood surveillance, multidisciplinary assessment, and the provision of care for persons with disabilities.
Accompanied by their Italian partners, participants deepened their understanding of the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) to establish a common language and a bio-psycho-social approach.
This journey, which began in recent days, is part of the Pilot Program for the delivery of social services to persons with disabilities, supported by AICS in collaboration with CSG. The program aims to optimize available resources, reduce the duplication of interventions, and bolster support for persons with disabilities and their families by strengthening inter-ministerial collaboration to ensure a person-centered approach.
The day also provided an opportunity for experts from the Tuscany Region to visit the Right & Access Center in Jisr el Wati, allowing them to understand the existing service model, the daily challenges faced by staff, and potential areas for improvement.
