The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in Beirut is taking action following the urgent commitment called for by Minister Tajani, launching a first-phase emergency call for proposals (Primissima Emergenza). The initiative aims to provide a rapid and tangible response to the Lebanese population, which has been severely affected by the worsening humanitarian crisis and recent events that have further destabilized the country.

A Priority Commitment for the Most Vulnerable
Lebanon is currently facing one of the most complex challenges in its recent history. This Italian-led intervention is part of a framework of urgent humanitarian aid designed to guarantee essential services and protect the most fragile segments of the population, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities.

The funds will be allocated to projects operating in crucial sectors, including:

Healthcare and WASH: Access to clean drinking water and sanitation services.

Food Security: Immediate nutritional support for families in distress.

Protection and Education.

The Role of AICS Beirut in Responding to Conflict-Affected Populations
This new funding confirms Italy’s central role as a long-standing partner to Lebanon. The strategy of the Italian Cooperation goes beyond immediate assistance; it aims to lay the groundwork for the resilience of local institutions and communities, following the “Humanitarian-Development Nexus” approach.

Liana De Rosa, Director of AICS Beirut, emphasized:

“Less than an hour after the approval of Italy’s extraordinary funding for Lebanon, AICS launched the Primissima Emergenza call. This will allow Italian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to rapidly mobilize all necessary resources to assist the most vulnerable populations. It is a concrete sign of solidarity, carried out in close collaboration with the CSOs working tirelessly on the ground.”
