A joint monitoring mission in Akkar for the AWSWM project (Access to Water, Environmental Upgrading, and Sustainable Waste Management in Lebanon).
The site visit to the rehabilitated landfill by the Ambassador of Italy to Lebanon, Fabrizio Marcelli, and the Director of AICS Beirut, Liana De Rosa, highlighted the strong consensus and support from the Union of Municipalities of Jurd al-Kaytee.
The main results of the intervention included the rehabilitation of the Fneidek landfill, aimed at a more sustainable management of solid waste, and the upgrading of water infrastructure in the municipalities of Bzal and Hrar, thereby improving access to essential services for the population.
The initiative, funded by Italy through the AICS call for proposals, is implemented by CISP (@cisp.ngo) in collaboration with partners COOPI and ODA, united in the common goal of strengthening the social fabric and adaptive capacity of local communities, as well as protecting the environment.
