Considering the multiple ongoing crises in Lebanon, the Italian Cooperation has expanded its humanitarian engagement in the country through several new emergency initiatives. These primarily focus on education and child protection, health, livelihoods, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), and protection. These efforts complement the activities carried out through the regular cooperation channel, with a preference for bilateral cooperation and implementation through the ecosystem of Italian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), which are deeply rooted in the country.
The Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus approach has been centered on supporting and strengthening national systems responsible for service delivery. This ensures alignment with national government strategies, institutional ownership by local counterparts, and localization of Aid.
